Elisabeth Röhmis still learning the ropes of parent life more than a decade after becoming a mom — and she couldn’t be happier doing so.

The Law & Order alum, 45, chatted with PEOPLE’sCeleb Parents Get Realrecently regarding all the positives in her life as a mother, raving, “I really do embrace that every day is a new opportunity for loving.”

Röhm has a 10-year-old daughter namedEaston August, and recalls one proud parenting moment that sticks out among the rest.

“How deeply we communicate,” she says. “I learned that from a really good friend. Shewas a new mother, and shesaid the way to really create an incredible human being is to communicate with them, and I think that’s really true about all relationships.”

While raising Easton, the actress has used lessons her parents instilled in her for her own job as a mother.

“A sense of the family nucleus being the most important part of her life, andthat friendship is very importantbut the family dynamic is the most. You have to be truly loyal to the family,” Röhm says.

However, parenting does not come without regrets, as Röhm admits, “My only regrets as a parent would be that I couldn’t give her a perfect family dynamic and that shehad to go through a separation andto live in this modern family of going back and forth between two houses.”

“Everybody wants to give their children a perfect childhood, so I would say that was the biggest disappointment,” she adds.

And when it comes to Easton, the actress has moments when she knows that she is most definitely her daughter.

“She’s bossy. She’s a boss. She comes in and she’s the boss of everyone. … She’ll be a leader — she’ll be a boss for sure. I hope she took that out of my pages,” says the mother of one.

Röhm is currently starring as Agent Aria Price on the Sony Crackle seriesThe Oath.Season 2 of the crime drama premieres on Feb. 21.
