Elizabeth Banksis very eager tobook her stay at The White Lotus— and would do just about anything to make that happen.
“I want to be murdered so badly. Kill me, please kill me,” Banks, 49, recalled of her previous chat with White, 53. “I don’t know how it happens. Tell him!”
Aiding in her casting, co-hostKelly Ripaturned to the cameras and said, “Everybody knows that we’re Mike White’s favorite talk show. Mike White, please put your friend Elizabeth Banks inWhite Lotusseason 3 or 4. We’ll take either one.”
“I’m writing you a check right now. I love it,” Banks said in response. “Who doesn’t want to go hang out in a hotel with all those fun people and solve a murder mystery?”
Ripa, 53, continued, “Oh, my gosh. It sounds like they’re in heaven! They’re shooting a show but they’re also in heaven while they’re shooting a show.”
“Seriously, it seems like a blast,” Banks added.

Banks isn’t the only big name that has declared interest in being a part of the series.Jennifer AnistontoldE! Newsshe’s “obsessed with it” and was fond of the suggestion that she play the sister ofJennifer Coolidge’s character Tanya McQuoid.Sheryl Lee Ralphalso toldE! Newsearlier this year: “Oh, honey, please. Call me, don’t be afraid to just call me.”

The White Lotuspremiered in July 2021 to much acclaim. As the series gained popularity, the praise carried over to season 2, which featured an almost entirely new cast, with only Coolidge and her on-screen husbandJon Griesreturning.
HBOrenewedthe series for a third season in November 2022, and White already has an idea as to where he could take the story.
“The first season we highlighted money and then the second season is sex,” he explained inan HBO Max featurette. “And I think the third season, it would be maybe a kind of satirical and funny look at death in Eastern religion and spirituality — it feels like it could be a rich tapestry to do another round at White Lotus.”
Varietylater reported that the third season will be set in Thailand.
