Elle Macphersonis speaking candidly about her daily routine ahead of her 60th birthday.
The 59-year-old supermodel, who will be celebrating her milestone birthday next month, revealed on the latest episode of theAmanda Wakeley: StyleDNApodcastthat she has been taking her wellness more seriously since she “hit a wall” when she turned 50.
“Everything that I was doing, I sort of learned how to do, wasn’t working anymore,” Macpherson said. “I realized I couldn’t just rely on genetics.”
The model revealed that she set a whole new routine for herself to keep her energy up, which included avoiding caffeine and getting in some daily stretches and exercise.

Getting eight hours of sleep is also important for Macpherson — which she admitted she comfortably does in the buff.
“I go to bed with a smile. I go to bed with a happy heart,” the star admitted. “And a night mask. And no clothes. My skin.”
“I’ll get outside, stretch, maybe do some sun salutations, or a bit of yoga or some breath and just move my body,” Macpherson shared. “… It really makes a huge difference.”

Another thing that Macpherson said made a huge difference in her life was cutting out phone distractions in the morning. “I don’t touch my phone or get into text or emails or Instagram or anything like that because I feel like it distracts me from the day," she explained.
The model, who noted that she loves outdoor activities and being in nature, said she will sometimes bike, hike or do other outdoor activities in the morning instead.
She added that she’ll then eat her final meal of the day at 5 p.m. and relax with a hot chocolate before finally heading to sleep.

“Beauty is, when you look at your beauty program, topical beauty only goes so far,” Macpherson said. “It really needs to — you need to feed yourselves, [the] mitochondria of yourselves, which is like your heartbeat.”
