“What exactly is wrong with my bits?” Thompson asks Kaling in the trailer.
“You’re a little old and a little white,” Kaling carefully says, prompting Thompson to reply, “Well, what can I do about that?”
The trailer is also filled with jokes outlining the patriarchal atmosphere Kaling is thrust into, like whenI, Tonyastandout Paul Walter Houser boils her down as a diversity hire.
“I wish I was a woman of color so I can get any job I want,” Houser says, before the hilarious John Early (Search Party) sets him straight: “We talked about this, you can’t say that.”
Still, theMindy Projectstar won’t let them get her down.
“I know what everyone thinks of me. But just because I was lucky enough to get this job doesn’t mean I’m stupid enough to lose it,” Kaling tells the charming Hugh Dancy, also a writer on the show.
Late Nightis set to hit theaters on June 7.
