But the buzz hit a new level earlier a few months ago after Cabello and Mendes released their song “Señorita,” plus a steamy music video, on June 20. The single is the pair’s second duet, following“I Know What You Did Last Summer,”which was released in 2015.
In the sizzling “Señorita” music video, and Mendes play lovers who can’t seem to quit one another. Their characters — a waitress and a mysterious motorcycle rider — meet in a club and have an instant connection as they cuddle up on the dance floor. Their attraction leads them to a motel room, where they share an evening (and following morning) of passion. With lyrics like, “They say we’re just friends, but friends don’t know the way you taste,” some fans have wondered if the longtime pals are becoming more off-screen, too.

They’ve Been Seen Hanging Out
Two weeks after the video for “Señorita” dropped, Cabello and Mendes werephotographed holding handsin West Hollywood. The duo may have deliberately coordinated their outfits for the night out, with Mendes sporting a pair of black slacks and long-sleeved shirt with vertical black-and-white stripes while Cabello cut a chic figure in a black jumpsuit featuring a barely there back.

A few days later, the pair wasphotographed in Los Angeles after grabbing brunch.Mendes was seen with his arms around Cabello, who seemed happy and comfortable with the pop star. Mendes was wearing a wearing black Nike long-sleeved shirt and black pants. Cabello, meanwhile, hung close to Mendes while wearing a white top under a light black jacket.

The pair shared adate night in Montrealon Aug. 19, a little over a week after their N.Y.C. outing. Once again, they certainly weren’t shy to show their affection for each other.
The pair were spotted walking hand-in-hand through the Canadian city before they stopped in a small café. While at their table, Mendes was photographed cupping Cabello’s face as the two shared a steamy makeout session.

Though he didn’t exactly say with whom he is in a relationship, Mendes told fans, “Honestly, I wanna say I wanna talk to you guys about this stuff, but it’s not just me in the relationship. There’s another person involved and I can’t say things that I feel. It’s not just me deciding, you know?”
And Then They Posted This Kissing Video
On Sept. 12, the couple took to Instagram to “defend” themselves against fans who say that their kissing technique is lacking. Mendes opened the video with, “So we saw on Twitter and stuff you guys saying stuff about the way were kissing and how it looks weird like we kiss like fish.”
“Yeah, it really hurt our feelings,” Cabello, added.
“We just want to show you how we really kiss,” Mendes explained, before leaning in for what we thought might be a sexy smooch, instead taking a turn for the hilarious. At least they have a sense of humor!
