It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s a new Superman movie.
Earlier this year, Warner Bros. and DC Studios announced thatDavid Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan have been tappedto play Superman andLois Lanein the new film,Superman: Legacy,and now more actors are joining the star-studded cast.
News of the upcoming project was first teased in late 2022, amidHenry Cavill’s confirmation that he would be passing on the capeas the superhero, and was officially announced in March 2023.
Since then, an extensive search for the cast has been underway and several new details about the plot have been released.
In contrast to previous iterations of the Superman story, this film will focus on an earlier part of Superman’s life as he grapples with his Kryptonian heritage and human upbringing.
The cast waspictured together for the first timein February 2024 when they got together for a table read. Gunn shared a group photo onInstagram, writing, “What a wonderful day.”

In June 2023, David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan were officially cast as Superman and Lois Lane, respectively. While Corenswet is best known for his roles onThe PoliticianandHollywood, Brosnahan gained critical acclaim for her starring role onThe Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, which recentlywrapped its final season in May.
In November 2023,Deadline reportedthat formerX-Menstar Nicholas Hoult would be playing Superman’s nemesis, Lex Luthor. Meanwhile, Skyler Gisondo, best known for his role onThe Righteous Gemstones, has been tapped as Jimmy Olsen,perThe Hollywood Reporter. The outlet also reported that Sara Sampaio was cast as Eve Teschmacher, the assistant to Lex Luthor.
Gunn’s February 2024 Instagram post included more stars: Anthony Carrigan, Isabela Merced, Nathan Fillion, Edi Gathegi, Terence Rosemore and Maria Gabriela de Faria.
In his caption, Gunn listed off the characters pictured. “After the table read with the #Superman cast. Eve, Mr. Terrific, Superman/Clark, Otis, Lex, producer Peter Safran, Jimmy, Metamorpho, Lois, Hawkgirl, me, Guy, The Engineer all together for the first time!” he wrote.
