Bacheloralum Renee Oteri Maynard might have hung up her reality-television dating hat, but starting this Thursday she’ll be showing off her cooking skills onThe Taste.

“I’ve always loved to cook my whole life,” Oteri Maynard tells PEOPLE exclusively. “I started in the kitchen really young just watching my mom and then moving forward I was a house cook onBachelorfor the two weeks we were in L.A. in the mansion [and] it was so much fun. I love to cook for other people. That’s really my joy,” she said.

But the reality star — who’s already mom to 9-year-old son Ben and expecting her first child with newlywed husbandBracy Maynard— admits, “It’s definitely interesting cooking [while] being pregnant.”

“I pick up different scents,” the expectant mom says with a laugh. “Some things kind of gross me out now whereas they didn’t before, but what I’m doing now that I’m pregnant that’s different is I am coming up with the most bizarre concoctions ever.”

Between making meals for her growing family and formerBachelorcostars,The Tasteseems like a natural fit for the mom-to-be even though she says television gigs make her nervous.

Oteri Maynard admits she was also “really excited” to meet celebrity chef Nigella Lawson.

Plus, she’s really looking forward to seeing how her cooking skills will unfold on the show.

“I kind of just took a big leap of faith with this whole thing, but I’m really just looking forward to kind of seeing how it all plays out,” Oteri Maynard explains. “I have no idea how well or how terrible I’m going to do so it’ll be definitely interesting.”
